| Homes in Barrhaven | NEIGHBOURHOOD DESCRIPTION  Barrhaven is a rapidly growing suburban neighbourhood in the southwest of Ottawa. The founder, Mel Barr had originally intended on building a large horse racing track but upon the establishment of the Rideau Carleton Raceway he decided to build a new subdivision, thus Barrhaven or “The Haven” was created. Almost every street consists of fairly large late 20th century style suburban houses. It is a quiet, family oriented suburb with plenty of great amenities such as the Walter Baker Sports Centre, many box stores, Wal-Mart, Staples and Winners. |
